SALINE REMOVAL

saline removal, tattoo lightening in irvine ca

Consultations are not required for Saline Removal, but may be recommended for more difficult cases. Reading the following page will ensure you're prepared for your removal session.

You must be 18 years old to get any permanent makeup/removal done.

Saline removal works to create a superficial controlled wound that develops a scab. The saline works with the body's natural healing process to remove the pigment when the scabs shed. Saline removal is the best option for removing permanent makeup that you are unhappy with or need corrected. It is the most affordable and safest way to remove PMU (permanent makeup). Saline removal works on regular tattoos as well, however, currently We only remove tattoos and semi-permanent tattoos on the face (excluding eyeliner), not the body.

The amount of sessions required will depend on how deep the pigment was implanted and how saturated it is in the skin. For correction purposes, the tattoo may only need to be lightened to the point that it can be covered successfully. Anywhere between 1-6 sessions may be required to get your desired result. Clients need to wait at least 6-8 weeks between each session.

Disclaimer: Because all tattoo artists/PMU artists use different products and techniques the results of removing that work cannot be predicted, foreseen or guaranteed on everyone.

Plan your procedure with your schedule/vacations/events! DO NOT schedule when you have an incoming event that conflicts with healing. You will need 2 weeks for scabs to shed and 2 more weeks for complete healing.

The following conditions (indicated with blue) do not prevent you from getting your PMU/tattoos removed, but should be considered when deciding if it's the right option for you.

  • Cirrhosis of the Liver: Susceptible to infection

  • Scar tissue: Scars can be unpredictable. Please be aware that ALL PMU (microblading/tattoos/semi-permanent tattoos) leave behind scar tissue. How thick that tissue is depends on your skin and also how the PMU was performed. Often clients want their PMU removed because they have gone to an inexperienced PMU technician and aren't happy with the results. Because of inexperience there may also be excessive scar tissue present (It may not be visible under the pigment). Scar tissue can prevent proper healing. The saline solution may have a harder time penetrating through thick scar tissue and removing the pigment. However in most cases this is not a concern, but it is a possibility and it is beyond the control of your saline removal technician.

  • Alopecia (Hair loss due to autoimmune disease): the results are less predictable with this skin type, and may require more removal sessions.

  • Platelet Disorders- Causes more bleeding to occur, and therefore lower saline penetration.

  • Moles/raised areas in or around the brow area: Pigment should not ever be put into moles or anything raised but if you had PMU and the technician did this, you can't remove pigment from this area, only around.

  • Hair transplant for your eyebrows: Scar tissue is thicker.

  • Darker skin types: Skin can have more reactions, because of sensitivity. If you have a history or poor healing or had dark spots or light spots left behind from scars, then that can happen with the removal too.

  • MEDICATIONS: Taking certain medications can affect your skin and the way it heals. Taking a lot of different medications at once will also make it harder to predict how well you will heal.

  • Age of tattoo: This is very important! The longer you have had your tattoo the more difficult it may be to remove. If it's 10+ years old you may need more sessions to get it completely removed.

These instructions and requirements are for your safety and are recommended for the best results possible. If you show up to your appointment/book your appointment without following any/all of the above requirements including pre-care or you have any of the conditions indicated in red above, you will be turned away and charged a cancellation fee. If you experience any of the conditions above indicated in blue, then by scheduling you except the possible outcomes explained.

Post-Care Instructions:

The area will be very red and may have blood on the surface. This is because of the coagulation process and it is nothing to worry about. You may GENTLY wipe the edges of the area clean from blood with alcohol pads following the procedure. Don't cover the area; it must be open to air and begin forming a scab.

  • Blot the area with clean cotton rounds every hour for the first 3 hours.

  • Keep the area dry as much as possible. If they get wet, let them dry immediately (don't rub with a towel) and NEVER let them soak underwater or in the shower. You must keep them dry until the scabs have shed on their own completely.

  • No creams/moisturizers/ointments until it is time to use the Healing Cream you are given free at the appointment.

  • Use sun-screen AFTER all scabs are gone. At this point you will also start to use a small amount of Healing Cream on them, but never use before the scabs are all gone. Use this a couple times a day until your next session or until you run out.

  • No HOT showers, or saunas directly after the procedure. Shower pressure should not go directly on the treated area for 14 days.

  • You really shouldn't touch them but if you find yourself needing to for some reason, your hands must be completely cleaned with antibacterial soap before.

  • If the area starts to get itchy, this is normal, don’t itch the area under any circumstances. This can cause scars, poor healing and bad results which will be a waste of money for you.

  • NO exercising for 10-14 days after your appointment. The salt in sweat can cause poor healing. Please don't exercise, even if you "don't sweat."

  • Try and sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side or stomach could increase the risk of pulling off healing scabs. Clean your pillow case prior, so there is less chance of the treated area coming in contact with bacteria.

  • Do not pick or itch the scabbed skin. This is unlike microblading, so pulling off the scab does not mean you will pull more pigment out of the skin. It will ruin the process if scabs are forced to come off. Even small amounts of picking, or "helping" a scab fall off can drastically change how well you will heal and how red your skin will stay underneath.

  • No sun/tanning beds for at least 3 weeks

  • You may use a cleanser on the area again once the scabs have shed.

  • NO anti-aging creams of any sort in the area for 3 weeks.

  • You may wear makeup on the rest of your face but don't put any makeup on the treated area.

You will see the results after the scabs come off.
